Using low estimates the last march only a month earlier was about 2500 participants, this march was about 100,000. A 40-fold increase! We keep this up and we'll be a serious threat.
Like the last march, I'm happy to report the march was entirely peaceful. Only the speakers seemed to get really agitated.
Signs were pretty well-focused. We had a number of miscellaneous causes being advertised, but the great majority focused on the proposed war and the Bush Administration.
I heard the movie star Susan Sarandon speak from here. The speaker's platform was completely obscured, however, so I never saw her. In what must have been a happy coincidence for her, she had a major part in one movie released within the last two months and minor parts in two others, all of which were well-reviewed. If you're going to stick your neck out by protesting something like this, it helps to be as visible as possible.
