Hayden then asked for inputs and got lots of good, sensible commentary. Iran is currently being restrained in its nuclear ambitions by IAEA restrictions. If the US maintains a peaceful dialogue, no nuclear war with Iran will begin. As they signed the NPT, they are not permitted to have nuclear weapons. Iran has good reason to want nuclear power as that would free up oil for export.
Lots of discussion as to where the proposed PDA statement was located.
Discussion then went to Barbara Lee's Resolution 780, a bill to end Afghanistan War. Not really clear on what the US hopes to accomplish by staying in Afghanistan. We should up the pressure on getting Congress to approve the resolution.
Drones are contributing very bad feelings to the US-Pakistani relationship.
