Mark Levin summarized many topics while speaking of the July Congressional Round Table where activist groups and Congresspeople got together to exchange ideas and information. They talked of low-interest mortgages, the “War on the Poor,” the Voting Rights Act and what progressives are doing to restore oversight of voting rights and the potential threat to not raise the debt ceiling. Good news, single-payer health care has bubbled to the top of the progressive agenda, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which will be administered by business interests and where Congress is sternly kept on the sidelines, got some attention. The agreement is “hundreds and hundreds of pages long,” and none of them have received any real “non-business interests” analysis.

Michael McPherson spoke about the anniversary of the Dr. Martin Luther Kind Jr. march scheduled for the 24th of this month. The PDA contingent will be meeting at 9:30am at the Albert Einstein Memorial. The word that Mike's received is that peace will not be a major topic of the anniversary.

Michael then drew the connections between anti-war activism and MLK's dream.

Sadie Davies covered various legislative subjects, identifying several webpages from which to be active. Andrea Miller then added a few more tips and suggestions concerning letter drops.
